Dr Luigi's Tips (1)

Dr Luigi Gratton M.D., as Vice President of Medical Affairs and Education, coordinates the strategic management of Herbalife's Nutrition Advisory Board to ensure Distributors have a thorough understanding of products, ingredients and their benefits. In addition, he manages the day-to-day operations of the Medical Affairs and Education Department, assuring all Distributor and medical inquiries receive a quick and accurate response.

An extra role Dr Luigi recently acquired was as the Nutrition Expert Coach for the LA Galaxy football players, (including David Beckham), so he also advises them on their nutrition, and of course ensures their use of Herbalife products is done the correct way for their athletic performance.

And of course, as I myself have witnessed at 4 major Herbalife Asia events, Dr Luigi drives the women crazy, he is also very athletic and in the words of the fairer sex, "he is very handsome", (I modified the quote a little, as the original content was too explicit!), anyway at least once a year he will travel to Asia, (Malaysia included), to teach us all how to be healthier people.

Please enjoy some of the below images & tips shared by Dr Luigi:

How I lost 5kgs in 3 weeks!

I started on the weightloss programme around the 28th February 2006, here are 2 pictures of me just before I left London in Jan, and 1 picture of me with family in KL on the 26th Feb.

The price paid for a nice cushty office job sitting in front of a computer all day for 4 years,( perhaps you can see in the photo's), I looked much older than my actual age, always feeling tired and over worked hence an 8 cups a day of coffee addiction, my belly starting to pout, and my double-chin beginning to strut! And my wife occasionally commenting.

So arriving in KL I was quite lucky as my flatmates in Angkasa Impian 2 (Lorong Sahabat) were also using the Herbalife products, and so, it made life more easy, as it felt completely normal to be having shakes every morning for breakfast together.

Anyway my daily routines involved a fair amount of walking as I arrived in Malaysia to promote the Herbalife business; giving out flyers, walking & talking to strangers, doing survey's etc. I had little time to do any exercise, I did try to jog once or twice at 6am...but it was too early to sustain.

When I started using the programme, I began my day around 7am with a large cup of boiled Lemon & Hibiscus energy tea, just after my shower. For breakfast it was always a tropical or vanilla shake, (2 heaped spoons F1 and 1 levelled spoon F3 per person). We kept large mangos (already peeled & diced) in the freezer, so easy to just pull out the tupperware, open the lid, throw the equivalent to 1 whole in the blender to serve 4 people. Sometimes we would have a soy milk shake, other times fruit juices would be used. Liquid measurements: 150ml of water AND 150ml fruit juice OR soy milk OR both! And always adding fruits like Mango, banana, or guava.

I would be full enough right through to my lunchtime at 1pm.

I was always carrying 1 bottle of Spritzer Mineral Water for outdoor morning use, and of course I poured the tea mix into the bottle, it would always be finished within 2 hours.

For Lunch on 4 days of the week, I would eat at home, cooking Korean Noodles, added with fish, vegetable salad & cheese, I found this to be quite simple and easy to make, and not so bad tasting, very easy to sustain 4 days of the week. On those days I would have a shake for dinner at 6 or 7pm, (alternating the flavour to a chocolate or strawberry one, sometimes mixing both).

On the other 3 days, of course the shake at breakfast time would still be the same, only this time I would have a shake for lunch. Dinner as agreed with flatmates was either home-delivered Domino's Pizza with a movie, or a visit to a restaurant on Changkat Bukit Bintang.

In the course of 1 day, I would drink no less than 2 bottles (1.5 litres) of Spritzer, with tea mix added, so cold! And 2 additional large mugs of energy tea mix at home, with boiled hot water!

Of course I never believed I was fat, (like my wife was saying), nor did I expect anything significant to happen, even though having witnessed many other product results people had experienced, it was when Penny came back from the UK and noticed my face had changed, that I went and measured myself on scales (I had not done so in 2 weeks), and now it was 3 weeks since I started the programme, having weighed in at 73kgs, and the surprise and happiness when I checked my weight...68kgs, so a loss of 5 kgs in 3 weeks, here is the photo a 2 days after that:

Why did I continue to use the products that helped me lose weight?, Simply because, Herbalife's core products (The formula 1, The Formula 3 and Tea) are also the best known top quality products for weight maintenance and especially (due to all the nutrients) the best healthy meal you can give your body. I have had tremendous continual changes in my energy levels, I no longer experience stomach pains, I lost my coffee addiction, my skin has improved, no more tired & older look and no more doctor, and generally I look and feel so much better, which is perfect revenge for my wife (who once commented alot on my belly), now she is jealous when I go out, lol! So go on, DO IT...CHANGE! If it happened for me, it can happen for YOU TOO!!

Oh and since I am in a photo mood, here is one more photo of me quite recently, (DEc 2007), after gaining 4kgs of muscle mass (another story for another time) LOL:

Globesity versus Wellness

The articles below are testament to Malaysia playing a large part in the growing "Globesity" problems. Through the New Straits Times, the Malaysian government and the W.H.O. provide statistics that are unsettling, and increasing.

Having lived in Malaysia for almost 2 years, I have come to accept that this truly is a food country, the majority of population are so proud of their national cuisine, (and they have every right to be for the delicious tastes), that they have redefined the use of the word "supper" and its not unusual to have 5 meals a day, including the "supper" between midnight & 2am. It is true that alot of food that Malaysia offers is very tasty, yet by eating such foods consistently (high in calories/fats/oils/sugars...etc) coupled with a decrease in physical activity (as the world has now moved towards a working environment modelled around computers and sitting down alot of the time), and then of course movement in tropical countries is almost always involving taxis, cars, motorbikes, escalators, elevators...etc! Is the price people are paying really worth it? Please ask yourself this question.

There is a huge problem, and it doesn't take a mathematical genius to figure out that we really are what we eat!
Linked directly to obesity are problems such as diabetes, cancer, heart-attack & stroke, and not only are the numbers jumping up each year, but the age of people suffering such lifestyle diseases is getting younger and younger, more and more children are suffering these same problems that traditionally were associated mainly to adults.

So what must one do about it? The key is WELLNESS. 3 main steps to achieve this are, 1) Drink plenty of water, 2) Regular exercise & 3) Good Balanced Nutrition.

At the KLNclub we will ensure that you receive all the information required to decide what is best for you, when you receive your free wellness evaluation.
And of course, we provide one of the best tasting healthiest meals available on the planet. Its very low in calories, very high in nutrients and simply is one of the best treats you can give yourself. Look after yourself! Hope to see u at the club!

If you are seeing information of the above kind for the first time, and are interested in how you can do something to help your people, your community, then please take the first step, and view my web-page: http://www.peaklifestyle.com/remi/

Naomi & Penelope

Hear the very wise words from new mother Naomi, as she explains the best way to give sound nutrition to her baby Penelope, and why she continues to also take the shake (18 years now...which is also her actual age).
